Our Leadership

The Hudson Global Alliance is being nurtured by Bob Massa, a seasoned expert in U.S. higher education admissions.

Dr. Robert J. Massa, Executive Director

Dr. Robert Massa has been an enrollment professional in higher education since 1974 and was on the admission/financial staff at Colgate University and Union College before becoming the dean of enrollment at Johns Hopkins University in 1989. In 1999, he began a ten-year term as Vice President for Enrollment and College Relations at Dickinson College, where he was widely credited with a 40% growth in enrollment and increasing the measured academic quality and diversity of the student body while significantly decreasing the College’s tuition discount rate.  He served his son’s alma mater, Lafayette College, as Vice President for Marketing and Communications from 2009-2014.  After a very brief retirement, he joined Drew University in 2015, first as a consultant and then as their senior vice president, and retired from university administration in 2019.

Massa currently teaches in an Enrollment Management and Policy online masters program at the University of Southern California, has authored chapters in six books, and is a frequent contributor to Inside Higher Ed and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He also serves as the chair of the board of the Character Collaborative.

Massa received a bachelor’s degree with distinction in psychology and a masters in developmental psychology from the University of Rochester.  He earned a doctorate in higher education from Columbia University.
